South Dakota
Todd Wilkinson is a lifelong South Dakotan, cattleman, and attorney from De Smet who knows what it takes to build and protect a strong rural community. From the pasture to the courthouse, he’s spent his life working for South Dakota families defending property rights, supporting agriculture, and helping small towns thrive.
Now, Todd is running for District 8 State Senate in the Republican primary to bring that same steady, common-sense leadership to Pierre so we can keep growing what matters for the next generation.
“I've spent my life working for South Dakota, on the ranch, in the courtroom, and across the country.
My goal is making sure the next generation can keep building right here at home.”
- Todd
Todd’s Priorities
Protect Agriculture and Property Rights
South Dakota was built on agriculture, and its future depends on it. Todd will fight to keep family farms strong, cut unnecessary regulations, and defend private property from government overreach. He knows producers care deeply about their land and believes decisions about it should stay close to home.
Keep Taxes Low and Spending Smart
Todd believes government should live within its means and focus on what matters: safe communities, good schools, and strong infrastructure. He supports balanced budgets, responsible spending, and making sure every tax dollar works as hard as the people who earn it.
Strengthen Families, Education, and Rural Communities
Todd believes every South Dakotan should have the opportunity to build a life right here at home. That starts with strong schools, affordable childcare, and good local jobs.
He supports higher education and workforce partnerships with institutions like Dakota State University in Madison that keep talent and innovation growing in our state.
Local Roots. Growing South Dakota’s Future Together.
Todd Wilkinson has spent his life working the land, raising cattle, and standing up for South Dakotans who work hard to build a better future. A lifelong resident of De Smet, Todd brings a rare perspective as both a cattleman and an attorney — someone who understands firsthand the challenges and opportunities facing rural South Dakota.
From the pastures near De Smet to the halls of Congress, Todd has stood up for producers, property owners, and small towns. As a longtime community leader and past President of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, he knows how to cut through red tape, find common ground, and get things done.
Now, he’s running for the South Dakota Senate to make sure rural communities have a strong, steady voice in Pierre. A voice that’s grounded in experience, guided by common sense, and focused on results that matter.
